Week 1 Recap
Hello everyone! The week 1 milestone for the course project is behind us and our proposal has been approved as is! Please check out the week 1 post titled “Hello World” for the body of my proposal that I submitted last week. To quickly summarize, my course project is going to be a website that reviews tabletop board games.
Course Project Week 2
Project Milestone 2: Site Diagram
This week I am to extend the week 1 project proposal to include a site diagram. The site diagram must include the following:
- Layout of the site (identify all pages and their relationships)
- Page filenames (using ISO standard naming conventions)
- Links between the pages
- Navigation structure (choose which type of navigation structure best suits your topic)
Brainstorm Session

Brainstorming. (n.d.).from https://www.merriam-webster.com/words-at-play/definition-of-brainstorming
With these types of projects and assignments I like to conduct a brainstorming session for a little bit to visualize what I want to create. So for the first objective I need to think about the layout of my site and identify all of the pages. I’ve already pretty much identified the pages and their relationships in my proposal from week 1. I will have a landing page with a mission statement and a section below that for recent news/updates regarding tabletop games. The second page will be where my all-time list resides, which ranks my top 5 board games. The titles of the board games in the list will be links to each of their respective individual pages where I will create a thorough review of it. That will make up my 7 pages for the website. The file names should be relatively easy. The “Home” page of course will be named ‘index.html’. The ranking page will be ‘rankings.html’. The individual game pages will be ‘[gameName].html’. Pretty simple, no need to overthink it and keeping it simple and easily identifiable will help you out in bigger projects. The way I am envisioning the site to be linked together is to have a navigation bar on every page. The navigation bar will have a home link and a rankings link. The only way you can get to the individual game pages is through the rankings link. But now that I think about it, it may be a good idea to somehow tie in the home page to those individual game pages as well. I will have to think about that piece of it a bit more as I would need to tie in those links in a useful and organized fashion on the home page… How can I fit that in? If you have any suggestions, please feel free to leave a comment below.
